Construction of foundations for transformer stations and for energy storage system in Targovishte
As part of the project, construction company Varaks carried out works involving the construction of foundations for transformer stations and a foundation structure for a battery energy storage system.
The construction and installation works included fitting and subsequent removal of formwork for foundations and columns, as well as the supply and installation of prefabricated reinforcement for foundations and columns. The foundations were constructed using concrete for structures exposed to predominantly damp conditions, where there is a risk of reinforcement corrosion. Combined with correctly installed reinforcement and compliance with the required concreting procedures, the material contributes to the reliability and long-term durability of the foundations for the transformer stations and the energy storage system.
The construction of both types of foundations represents an important part of developing the infrastructure required for the stations and battery system. The works carried out have provided the structural bases necessary for the subsequent installation of the relevant technical equipment.
Through this project, Varaks reinforces its expertise in foundation construction and reinforced concrete structures for energy facilities, including infrastructure for electricity storage.

Beginning of the works - Construction of foundations for transformer stations and for energy storage system in Targovishte
During the initial phase of the project in Targovishte, excavation and preparatory works were carried out for the construction of a total of 26 foundations - intended for transformer stations and an energy storage system. The team from Varaks construction company executed the excavations using both heavy machinery and manual labor, following precise geodetic measurements to determine exact locations and elevation levels. After that, the soil base was thoroughly compacted. Geotextile was laid down during the preparation of the foundation areas. A base layer of concrete (blinding concrete) has been partially poured, with work continuing in stages across the various foundation sites. Operations proceeded with shuttering installation for the reinforced concrete foundations. Steel reinforcement components have been delivered to the construction site and their fitting has begun.
